About Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and HerzegovinaCharming in its modesty the Balkan country Bosnia and Herzegovina hides gingerly in the shadow of its more widely promoted neighbors – Croatia and Montenegro. Few are aware that Bosnia and Herzegovina is the country with astonishingly beautiful nature where emerald valleys alternate with picturesque mountain slopes and landmarks of Byzantine and Ottoman periods, some of which unfortunately were destroyed during the Balkan conflict. The capital of the country is Sarajevo; the city was based in the middle of the 13 century. It is flamboyant old city, which now has practically the same appearance as hundreds years ago. The city attracts by labyrinth of narrow streets in eastern style, ancient mosques, noisy markets and old Turkish bazaars and the only one survived from Ottoman times victualling house Morica-han. It is worthy to climb the Yellow Fortress, from which opens a marvelous city view, have a walk along the river Bosna and visit interesting museums such as Bosnian historical museum, National Museum and Art Gallery. Two original unique churches in Sarajevo: the Church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel and the church of Blessed Virgin are the places where the atmosphere of early 19 century still remained the same. The town Mostar places of interest are the Old Bridge, included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, and its museum, ottoman Muslibegovich House, Historical Museum of Herzegovina, Mehmed Pasha Mosque, and Revolution Boulevard.
