Not so many corners of Europe can be called a riddle for an experienced tourist. Nevertheless there are a couple of them. One of such mystery countries is Albania. Its variegated local flavor and cultural contrast, picturesque landscapes and pristine nature are the ideal choice for those, who are tired of customary directions and civilized resorts. High mountains and dense forests cover the most area of the country. Wherever one looks he finds fascinating views of green overgrown mountainsides, well groomed vine lands, orange and oil gardens. The territory of the country is bathed by the waters of two seas: Adriatic and Ionian. By its beauty Albanian seaside equals or betters Croatian or Italian ones, but herewith there are no crowds of tourists and clatter and chatter like in other popular resorts. Here prevails the atmosphere of peace and quiet, native population is very hospitable. Of course, the tours to Albania are considered primarily as a beach recreation. But the Albanian places of interest represent an amazing mixture of centuries, styles and cultures. Orthodox churches belonging to a Greek style, marvelous mosques and Palaces of Culture in Empire style are the examples of wonderful combination of incongruous elements. The museum town Berat is a bright evidence of this. On both Berat riversides there are residential areas, one of them is Islamic, and the other one is Orthodox. One should definitely taste the Albanian food which is very delicious. It is a delightful mixture of antique, Slavonic, Turkish and Italian cooking traditions.
