Lefkada is a precious Greek island of the Ionian See. Its surroundings strike any human mind with sea water of deep turquoise color, hilly landscapes and gorges, plentiful greenery, set of velvet sand and pebble beach zones. The beauty of white headlong rocks that are stretching on the western part of the island influenced people living there in such a way that they even gave it a rather captivating name – Lefkada - that means “white” in the Greek language. In 1948 and 1953, buildings and some historical monuments were totally destroyed by strong earthquakes. In order to avoid such natural disasters in the future, nowadays new houses are being built more closely to each other and create an incredible labyrinth of small streets with colorful facades. Moreover only in Lefkada you can taste the real olive oil differing from the others by its special aroma and a big range of Greek wines.
